Dr. David Vroonland Endowment Campaign
In recognition of Dr. Vroonland's support and collaboration, the Mesquite ISD Education Foundation has launched the Dr. David Vroonland Endowment Campaign.
Dr. V has served in public education for 36 years. His 7 years in Mesquite ISD have been full of vision and a pursuit of innovation. The Education Foundation has benefitted from a strong and collaborative relationship with Dr. V during his tenure.
A strong partnership with the district is a critical component of a successful and effective Education Foundation. Dr. V has been committed to collaborating with and supporting the Mesquite ISD Education Foundation’s mission.
During his tenure as Superintendent there have been multiple ways Dr. V has gone above and beyond to support the Education Foundation. A few of those stand out. Early in his tenure, Dr. V agreed that the district would fund the AVID program, which the Foundation had funded for several years. This freed up a substantial portion of our budget, which created our Innovation Grant Category, for large programs between $10,000 and $20,000. Since then, the Foundation has funded approximately 70 Innovation Grants totaling just under $1 Million.
Last year, the Foundation was unable to hose this event. We asked Dr. V if we could do a special appreciation to recognize all MISD personnel during a professional development day. Whataburger was to be delivered to all MISD campuses and facilities and a virtual comedy show was arranged. While the event was ultimately cancelled by snowmageddon, we were blown away by Dr. V and district administrations support of this out of the norm effort and logistics.
Recently, the MISD Board of Trustees, at Dr. V’s recommendation, approved annual and substantial financial support for the Foundation through the district’s sell of FCC licenses (?). This support allows the Foundation to continue to raise expectations towards fulfilling our mission.
We ask that you join us in honoring Dr. Vroonland’s service and support to the Education Foundation and Mesquite community by making a contribution to the Endowment. Principal from the endowment will remain intact as a lasting impact for Mesquite ISD teachers and students.
